On the left is the junction of Queen Street, Iron Gate, Cathedral Road and Full Street, you'll notice St Michaels Church and waste ground beyond which was the NCP car park, also Bridgegate BMW garage can be seen beyond that. Below shows Cathedral Road, with the former Shell Service Station, and the former Queen Street teaching pool and note there is no Joseph Wright Sixth form centre yet, as these pictures were taken in 1988 & 1989

This is a view from the top of Derby Cathedral, taken in 1989, the whole industrial museum and silk mill are clearly visible, the surrounding area has changed quite dramatically since then too, notable absences are the residential care accommodation at the bottom of St Michaels Lane, Landau Forte College in the foreground, and the whole of St Mary's Wharf on Mansfield Road

The Old Silk Mill Inn on Full Street, which was built in 1928, the mural on the side illustrates the famous 1833 Silk trades lock out, a conflict that lasted for around eight months. This picture was taken in 1990 and shows a badly faded mural

The two pictures below show the old Squash club on the corner of Sowter Road and St Michaels Lane, which was demolished in the early 1990's and the land is now used for car parking
