Views from the top of Eastgate House, (Now Cardinal Square)

Eastgate House or as it is known today Cardinal Square, is located on the Old Nottingham Road, just opposite from Browns foundry. The pictures below were taken from the top of this building in 1979. Eastgate house is the large building in the distance below left and how it is today below right after the building was refurbished in 2003, most notable was the colour from the bare grey concrete to a blue colour.

These pictures were originally taken on 35mm slide film.

Looking towards the Cathedral with Kennings Showrooms on Derwent Street in the middle of the picture and just beyond that you can just about make out the green Eggleston steel factory, which has just been demolished.

The right hand side of Clarke Street, the large asbestos sheds have long since gone, and have been replaced with small industrial units, just beyond these sheds and across from the train lines is Aitons on Stores Road
