 The river Ecclesbourne which meanders through the village

Trinity Methodist Church on King Street. It was opened on December 7th, 1904 and currently has 78 members.

  



 

 

Methodism came to Duffield in 1766, Thomas Slater was he the first Methodist, he was converted at the age of 20.
The first Duffield Methodists met in a cottages, hay lofts and in the open air. The first Methodist chapel building was completed in 1777 in King Street, the premises now used by the Freemasons as shown below

 
 

The fine bungalow above has the inscription above the front door "AD Majorem DEI Gloriam" which  is the motto of the society of Jesus, and translates to  "For the greater glory of God"

The splendid house on the right was built by the Key family in the 70's,  it comes complete with a copper roof and a swimming pool and at the time was probably one of the most prestigious homes in Derby
