  • Below are a taster of the many interesting facts and pictures that you will find on pictures of derby

Leys Malleable Casting Co Ltd

This lovely site greeted all the rail passengers that used the line from Birmingham, what an impression it must have made. It's the Leys foundry that was demolished back in the late 1980's. Later on in the demolition the "R" actually fell to the ground!, which made another interesting picture, see the Leys page for more! The old baseball ground floodlights can be seen in the background

Toyota, Burnaston

Various pictures before and during the construction of the new Toyota car plant at Burnaston, I came across this image one day coming down the A38, couldn't resist snapping it!

The investment by Toyota of $2.1b, is still the largest single UK investment by a Japanese company to date

Radio Derby , St Helens Street

Again another being in the right place at the right time sort of shot, unfortunately I couldn't see the "D" that had fell off !.

It was in 1990 when Radio Derby had this refit

Derby Co-operative 1903 Provident Society

Can you remember this building that stood derelict for a good number of years?

It occupied a piece of land on the huge St Mary's goods yard site.
